Finally a good gluten free pizza that delivers! If you’re a pizza lover and sick of ordering the fat and greasy Dominos, go for Basilico. Never have been inside the restaurant, but I have to say that the pizzas are very good. Their prices are not as cheap as a person would want, but you can get over that when you get your warm pizza.
I recommend the gluten-free Capricciosa with the addition of truffle-oil. Best take-away!
On top of that, if you wait for more than 45 minutes, you’re pizza will be half price, which makes you feel much better for waiting so long.
Basilico definitely makes one of the best pizzas I've had in London! Sure it's a little expensive but the quality of the meal you're having and the rapidity of the service more than makes up for that.
The quality of the ingredients they use is superb. I had a margherita pizza with chorizo as topping and the chorizo was thick cut and delicious, although maybe not spicy enough. I also tried making my own white pizza with parmigiano, mozarella and straciatella and the quality of the cheese they used was really great. Not only are their ingredients good but theie pizza has a delicious thin crust and you can tell that they use a real stone oven and that makes a huge difference.
I'm a big fan of this quaint little take away pizzeria in angel, not least because as you walk in you see the huge stone oven with flame burning in the background. It's a joy to behold.
The pizzas are authentic and very very tasty. I would review it higher if not for the fact that it is quite expensive for the size of pizza you get. There are no discounts at all for local collection either, so it not a cheap way to get a take away.
However, it is very tasty and definitely worth dropping by just to have a look at the oven!
